Checklist

  • Call Pension Services at (866) 802-6333 before you announce your retirement plans.

  • Contact us at least three months before you plan to retire.

  • Review the estimate of your retirement benefits.

  • Complete the retirement application.

  • Choose a benefit level for your surviving spouse or second adult beneficiary.

  • Make sure all your assessments are fully paid. Unpaid assessments will reduce your credited service and could delay your pension benefit.

  • Find out if you're eligible for the resettlement benefit and life insurance.

  • Elect the Medicare Supplement that best suits your situation.

  • Call the Social Security Administration at (800) 772-1213 and request an estimate of your benefits, or visit the Administration's web site at www.ssa.gov.

  • Call us if you are recently married or divorced or expect to change your marital status in retirement to discuss your options.

  • Try to attend one of CPF's Planning For Tomorrow conferences and arrange for a private consultation with a CPF financial representative.
