Active clergy1 are automatically enrolled in Short-Term Disability Insurance (the Income Replacement Plan), provided through First Unum Life Insurance Company, New York, NY .
This benefit replaces lost income should a clergy person become medically disabled for more than 30 days. Paid to church employers, the benefit covers 70% of total compensation as reported the Church Pension Fund, with a maximum benefit of $1,000 per week for up to 52 weeks.
While receiving this benefit, employers are required to continue paying clergy in full and making pension assessment payments as billed.
