Coverage for campers and others participating in offsite activities
This coverage protects travelers and participants of day schools, camps, and off-site athletic or recreational activities against the medical expenses of becoming accidentally injured or sick while participating in such programs.
Who is insured?
Accident &Sickness policies protect individuals directly when they are enrolled in travel, school, camp, or athletic and recreational programs sponsored by your organization.
A typical Accident &Sickness policy covers:
- Emergency Medical Expense up to a policy limit for this particular coverage. The policy may include a modest deductible or provide coverage after other valid and collectible insurance, such as group health insurance, is exhausted.
- Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) up to a policy limit for particular coverage. The policy may include a schedule of AD&D benefits that vary according to severity of injury.
For most buyers, the Emergency Medical Expense benefit is the main reason to have this insurance, because it deflects claims away from the organization's General Liability policy. The AD&D benefit is a token addition, especially if the coverage is modest. If insuring the value of participants' lives is a significant concern, consideration should be given to increasing the AD&D benefit.
