Disability Coverage

Defined Benefit Plan

If you become totally and permanently disabled for six consecutive months before your Normal Retirement date, you are eligible for a monthly disability benefit under this plan.

Your benefit is calculated based on the benefit you've earned as of the date of your disability. If you have less than 10 years of credited service, your benefit calculation is based on 10 years of credited service. Of course, if you have more than 10 years of credited service, your benefit calculation is based on your total credited service.

Benefits begin on the first day of the month after you are certified as disabled and have met the six-month waiting period. They continue until you recover, die, or fail to submit satisfactory proof of your continuing disability. If you are still disabled at your normal retirement date, your benefits may continue at the same rate, depending on your years of credited service.
