Tax Implications

Short-Term Disability Insurance

If you pay all of the Short-Term Disability premium with after-tax dollars, your payments are not taxable to you.

If your employer pays all or part of the premium, your benefit will be taxed in proportion to the percentage your employer pays. For example, if your employer pays 40% of the premium, you will be taxed on 40% of the benefit.
