Chaplains

To retired clergy, spouses, and surviving spouses

  •

Throughout the church, we encourage diocesan bishops to appoint a chaplain whose special ministry is to serve you.

They do so in a variety of ways. Some produce monthly newsletters or host gatherings. Others pay personal visits and facilitate communications with the bishop.

To support this ministry, we appoint a coordinator for each province. Once a year, we bring coordinators together to network and share new developments and pension fund benefits, as well as new strategies for ministry to the aging. Coordinators also bring diocesan chaplains together every year for support, education, and networking. This annual meeting is sponsored by the Church Pension Fund and is coordinated through the Department of Pastoral Care and Education.
