Seminarian Enrollment Schedule
To join a Medical Trust plan, enroll within 30 days of your seminary's registration deadline for the semester in which you wish to begin coverage. If you miss this enrollment period, you may enroll for a subsequent semester.
As a plan member, you remain enrolled year-round for as long as you are in seminary.
Manage Your Health
Download our monthly publication, Health News for Members of the Episcopal Church Medical Trust, with tips for maintaining good health.
If you are a full-time student attending an Episcopal seminary that participates in the Medical Trust health plans, you may be eligible to enroll in one of our health plans. (For information, view Seminarian Enrollment Schedule below and contact your local admissions office.)
Four plans
The Medical Trust offers four plan options for seminarians, specifically designed with your needs in mind. The plans use doctors and hospitals contracted through the Coventry and Aetna provider networks.
Three plans are Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), and one is a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). All offer medical, prescription drugs, and mental health/substance abuse benefits, along with the flexibility to cover a spouse and children.
No primary care physicians or referrals with the PPO options
Under the Episcopal Care PPO, Health Fund and Value Plans, you don't need to select a primary care physician, and you do not need referrals to see specialists. You may choose any health provider you wish, but you will save money if you use physicians, hospitals, and other providers in the preferred network.
The Value Plan and the Health Fund plan are offered at the same monthly rate. All four plans provide coverage nationwide and for travel outside the U.S.
