Church Pension Group | Reports & Statistics

Research & Data

By analyzing data on the changing nature of the Church, the Research & Data group helps CPG’s business and corporate units adapt its products and services to the needs of Episcopal clergy and lay employees.

The group uses surveys, focus groups, and data science techniques to gain insights that support CPG’s work in areas such as strategic planning, risk assessment, and program evaluation.

In addition, Research & Data carries out the function of Recorder of Ordinations, an office for which CPG was elected by General Convention. The Recorder maintains ecclesiastical records of all the clergy in The Episcopal Church and is the agency of record regarding clergy status and standing.

Research & Data also collaborates closely with the Executive Office of General Convention by ensuring we have a unified list of congregations for the Parochial Report and by working together on ways to present a comprehensive statistical portrait of the Church.
