Today, church leaders, employees and volunteers are as vulnerable to lawsuits as secular professionals and institutions. Plaintiffs often see the courts as a way to punish priests, wardens, vestry members or others who they believe have acted improperly. Whatever the outcome of a case, a church's costs for legal services alone can be ruinous.
The Directors' and Officers' ProtectorSM policy protects Episcopal institutions and their employees, trustees, vestry members, and volunteers against civil liability for "wrongful acts" for acts in the organization's service. This policy is available to Episcopal institutions covered by the Pinnacle Policy.
