Ministry to Retired Clergy
Serving retirees and surviving spouses
Chaplains
CPG encourages diocesan bishops to appoint a chaplain whose special ministry is to serve retired clergy and their spouses. They do so in a variety of ways.
Some produce monthly newsletters or host gatherings. Others pay personal visits and facilitate communications with the bishop.
Gatherings
To support this ministry, we appoint a coordinator for each province. Once a year, we bring coordinators together to network and share new developments and pension fund benefits, as well as new strategies for ministry to the aging.
Coordinators also bring diocesan chaplains together every year for support, education, and networking and we usually send a representative from the Church Pension Fund.
