How much insurance coverage can I purchase?
You can apply for coverage in increments of $50,000, to a maximum of $500,000. Complete the enrollment form and answer three health questions.
If you're newly hired, you are guaranteed acceptance* for $50,000, even if you are denied a higher amount.
Can family members be covered?
Yes, if you apply for your own coverage.
Your spouse or domestic partner can apply for coverage in increments of $30,000, to a maximum of $240,000. Complete the enrollment form and answer three health questions.
Each of your children under age 19 (or under 25 if still in school) can be covered for $10,000 at one premium rate.
If you're newly hired and apply for your own insurance, your spouse is guaranteed acceptance* for $10,000, even if he or she is denied a higher amount.
*Guaranteed coverage is offered to new employees within 60 days of their date of hire if they are enrolled in Group Term Life Insurance.
Additional features
- Coverage is portable. If you leave your job with the Episcopal Church before age 70, you can keep your Supplemental Group policy if you apply within 45 days from the date you give notice that you are leaving. Premiums are based on your age and the rates effect at that time. No medical exam is required, and coverage continues uninterrupted.
- Coverage is convertible. If your policy is terminated, you can convert it to a permanent Whole Life Insurance policy if you apply within 45 days from the date you give notice that you are leaving. No medical exam is required, and coverage continues uninterrupted. Premiums are based on individual whole life rates in effect at the time you convert your policy.
- Living benefit option. You can choose to receive your benefits before your death if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness.
- Premium waiver. We'll pay your premiums if you are totally disabled for at least six months before age 60.
- Payroll deduction. You can have your premiums deducted from your paycheck or pay by electronic funds transfer, automatically deducting payments from your bank account.
