Holistic Wellness

Holistic wellness lies at the heart of the Gospel.

In the fifth chapter of Matthew, Jesus proclaims, “Be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.“ Teleios, the Greek word for perfect, means to be brought to completion, to maturity, to wholeness.

As a CREDO participant, you know that CREDO prepares clergy to craft lives centered on wholeness of mind, body and spirit. The CREDO approach to comprehensive health and well-being corresponds to the understanding that wellness is a “state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” ( World Health Organization 1998). Comprehensive health means paying attention to your psychological, physical, relational, financial, vocational and spiritual health, and cultivating practices to nurture well-being. It involves envisioning the healthy you that you’d like to become and utilizing the support systems that can help you realize your goals. Holistic wellness is active rather than passive; it’s informed by the belief that we can live lives of abundance.
