Long-Term Disability Coverage

Do you have enough money set aside to cover your expenses if you couldn't work for more than a year? Could your family survive on only your savings or your spouse's income? If not, you may wish to consider long-term disability insurance.

Your employer may offer this insurance as a benefit, or you may purchase it through your employer. If you qualify, long-term disability insurance pays you a portion of your covered compensation, up to the plan’s maximum monthly benefit amount. Benefits begin after you have been disabled for 90 to 180 days, depending on the plan your employer selected.
