Gratitude Practice
As the days grow shorter and the air becomes more crisp, we begin to turn our thoughts toward the holiday of Thanksgiving and to our own needs for the practice of gratitude.
How does gratitude shape your life? Is it in a daily practice of journaling? A regular habit of volunteering? Weekly spiritual conversations with friends?
Reading can also strengthen our observances of gratitude. Here are a few suggestions for your nightstand:
- Letters from the Farm by Becca Stevens (founder of Thistle Farms) offers us her perspectives on life and faith.
- The Adventures of Cancer Girl and God by Anna Fitch Courie, never saccharine but always deeply honest and faithful, will warm your heart.
- The Courage to Grow Old by Barbara Cawthorne Crafton reminds us that, for all its inconveniences, the gift of growing older offers opportunities for humor and thanksgiving.
- How Can I See the Light When It’s So Dark? by Linda Douty takes us on a journey to a thankful heart.
