As we celebrate the season of giving during Christmastime, books can be meaningful ways to inspire, entertain, and support the people you cherish. We have created a guide from Church Publishing’s Morehouse imprint to help you find the perfect book for everyone on your list.
In Pure Unlimited Love, Stephen G. Post, PhD, combines forty years of scientific research and spiritual insight to explore seven accessible practices that can transform the mind, body, and spirit, and spark widespread cultural renewal—even in times of uncertainty.
In his foreword for the book, His Holiness the Dalai Lama says, “I’m pleased to see that Dr. Post is addressing themes such as consciousness and interconnectedness…. It is my hope that this book will contribute to the flourishing of humanity.”
Eleanor Roosevelt’s Nightly Prayer reveals “a fresh take on the influences that formed a key figure in 20th-century American history” (Publishers Weekly). This first-of-its-kind book traces Roosevelt’s lifelong devotion to justice, compassion, and service, grounded in politics and a deep spiritual practice that shaped her public and private life.
Twenty years ago, readers fell in love with Sam—the spirited, earless Airedale who survived a house fire and became a wounded healer, spiritual companion, and unlikely parish celebrity. The Gospel According to Sam returns in a revised and expanded 20th anniversary edition, filled with brand-new stories that will stir laughter, tears, and faith. “Miller is a magician with language,” William Broyles Jr., the screenwriter of Apollo 13, The Polar Express, and Cast Away, says. “His stories are…parables, gateways into the deep mysteries of love, life, and death.”
Ten Nesting Swallows is a delightful biblical counting book from an award-winning writer and an acclaimed illustrator. This vibrantly illustrated book can help the youngest children learn their numbers in a way that provides spiritual connection.

For the first time since its original authorization in 1893, Wakan Cekiye Odowan / The Dakota Hymnal makes a comprehensive collection of hymns written and translated into Lakota thought available to congregations nationwide. The new volume, created in collaboration with Dakota and Lakota elders, linguists, musicians, and faith leaders, consists of 177 hymns and service music, including beloved classics such as the “Doxology” and “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.”
The publication of this hymnal addresses a centuries-long scarcity of accessible worship materials for Dakota- and Lakota-speaking communities. Preserving the language and its deep spiritual traditions for generations to come, these hymns are more than songs; they reveal the resilience and vitality of Native American congregations past and present.
