We are excited to welcome Luke Douglas as our new Head of Research, succeeding Matthew Price, PhD.

After 25 years of dedicated service, Matthew will retire from his role as Head of CPG’s Research & Data Group on December 31, 2025. Matthew has been a steady and thoughtful presence—guiding CPG’s research efforts with clarity, integrity, and a deep commitment to those we serve. His legacy is one of excellence, and we are deeply grateful for the many ways he has shaped our work.

Luke brings a rich and varied background to CPG, with experience spanning global development, data strategy, and impact investing. Most recently, he served as Chief Data & Analytics Officer at the US International Development Finance Corporation. Before that, he was Acting Director of Strategic Information, Research, and Planning at the Peace Corps, overseeing everything from agency strategy to AI and evaluation.

Luke’s journey has also taken him through management consulting with the Boston Consulting Group, investment work in Southeast Asia with the IIX Foundation, and program-related investment strategy at Trinity Wall Street. His career reflects a deep curiosity about the world and a passion for utilizing data to make a meaningful impact.

He holds an MBA and MPA from NYU, a BA from Middlebury College, and is a PhD candidate at George Washington University. Luke also spent time in Indonesia as a Princeton in Asia fellow—an experience that continues to shape his global perspective.

Luke lives in New York City with his wife, two children, and their very large goldendoodle. He’s a lifelong Episcopalian and brings both analytical rigor and a values-driven approach to his work.

“As The Episcopal Church continues to evolve, our ability to serve those who serve the Church depends on how well we understand their situations and needs,” Patty Favreau, Chief Communications Officer, said. “Luke brings a deep understanding of how data can inform and strengthen that work. His leadership will help ensure that our research allows us to effectively meet the needs of the clergy, lay employees, and institutions of the Church. We’re excited for this new chapter and confident that Luke’s leadership will help us build on the strong foundation Matthew leaves behind.”
