CPG ConnectThe Church Pension Fund Board of Trustees (CPF Board) has elected Thomas W. Jones and Jane Hamblen as its newest members. Thomas succeeds the late Very Rev. Sandye Wilson, and Jane succeeds The Rt. Rev. Ian T. Douglas, PhD, who, consistent with board policy, stepped down from the CPF Board when a family member was recently hired as an employee of The Church Pension Fund. Thomas and Jane will serve the remainder of the current term, and each plans to stand for re-election at the next General Convention.
Thomas W. Jones: A Career Defined by Financial LeadershipThomas brings decades of experience in global investment management and corporate governance. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Global Investment Management at Citigroup, overseeing multi-billion-dollar portfolios and complex global strategies. Prior to that, he held senior leadership roles at TIAA-CREF and John Hancock Life Insurance Company, organizations dedicated to retirement and insurance solutions.
In 2005, Thomas founded TWJ Capital LLC, a venture capital investment firm, where he was a senior partner until his recent retirement. His governance experience spans corporate and nonprofit boards, including Fox Entertainment Group, Pepsi Bottling Group, Cornell and Howard Universities, and PBS Channel Thirteen. He currently serves on the boards of Assured Guaranty Ltd. and Jefferies Financial Group, both of which are publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
Thomas is also the author of From Willard Straight to Wall Street: A Memoir (2019), which won the 2020 Axiom Business Book Award Bronze Prize. A certified public accountant, he earned an MBA from Boston University and BA and MS degrees from Cornell University.
Jane Hamblen: A Career Built on Legal, Governance, and Pension ExpertiseJane’s background includes more than 40 years of legal, governance, and pension experience. After nearly two decades practicing corporate law in New York City with leading firms O’Melveny & Myers and Davis Polk & Wardwell, where she specialized in corporate finance and securities law, Jane transitioned to public service in Wisconsin.
For 20 years, she represented the Wisconsin public pension fund and its investment arm, the State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB), ultimately serving as Chief Legal Counsel. In that role, she oversaw all legal and compliance matters for an agency managing more than $100 billion in public pension and trust funds, including $50 billion managed internally. She served on the Board of Directors of the Council of Institutional Investors, a national association advocating for the interests of pension funds and institutional investors. She also served as the Wisconsin Attorney General’s representative to the Wisconsin Insurance Security Fund.
Since retiring in 2015, Jane has held leadership roles in nonprofit organizations, including as a vestry member and senior warden at Grace Episcopal Church in Madison, Wisconsin, where she currently chairs the Development Fund Trust. She also serves on the boards of the Madison Symphony Orchestra and the Shorewood Hills Foundation, where she currently serves as president.
Jane earned her LLB from Cambridge University (Trinity College), her JD from the University of Texas School of Law, and her BA in English from Rice University.

“Before we had an Investments corporate unit at the Church Pension Group, we had David Brigham,” Chief Investment Officer Michael Hood remarked. Truly a fiduciary’s fiduciary, David remained dedicated to The Church Pension Fund (CPF) for more than five decades, serving in multiple roles. “We are saddened to hear of his death on November 6,” Michael said.
David first became involved with CPF in the mid-1960s while at J.P. Morgan Investment Management, where he managed CPF’s investment portfolio externally. He joined the CPF Board of Trustees in 1981, serving until 1988, and then returned to the board in 1997, where he remained until 2009.
During his tenure, he chaired the Investment Committee twice. After leaving the board, David continued as an advisor to the Investment Committee until his retirement in 2019.
“David’s many years of service to CPG contributed significantly to the current strength of the pension fund, and we are forever grateful,” CEO and President Mary Kate Wold said.

Trustees include lay and ordained leaders, investment managers, attorneys, and business professionals who bring informed judgment and specialized knowledge to complex decisions.
