Surviving Dependent Children Benefits

The Clergy Pension Plan provides a survivor's benefit to your eligible dependent children upon your death.

To be eligible for the surviving child's benefit, your child must be:

  • Under age 25
  • Dependent
  • Unmarried

If your eligible child is an orphan, the benefit is doubled. Each of your eligible children will be paid a benefit, subject to a maximum provided in the Clergy Pension Plan. In addition, a Christmas benefit (13th check) may be paid to children receiving a survivor’s benefit. The Christmas benefit is generally equal to their monthly benefit.

The amount of the benefit may be adjusted based on your Credited Service (CS) earned at the time of your death.

If your child is disabled, see Disabled Children Benefits.

The benefit is paid until the child marries, becomes independent or attains age 25, whichever occurs first.
