Mary Kate Wold
Ms. Wold is a finance and operating executive and former law firm partner who most recently served as Senior Vice President, Finance, and a Principal Corporate Officer of Wyeth, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, leading its Treasury, Tax, Procurement, and Business Process Outsourcing organizations.
As a member of the Wyeth Investment Committee, she was a fiduciary of that company's multi-billion-dollar defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans, and provided oversight of non-domestic plans. She was also a trustee of Wyeth’s union pension plan.
Her treasury organization developed the overall investment policy and strategy of the Wyeth pension plans and was responsible for the evaluation, selection, and monitoring of outside asset managers as well as the day-to-day management of the plans.
Ms. Wold was a member of Wyeth’s Human Resources, Benefits, and Compensation Committee, appointed by the Wyeth Board of Directors and chaired by its Chief Executive Officer. This committee had ultimate oversight responsibility for all of the company's benefit and healthcare plans. Ms. Wold was the senior executive on two standing committees established to reevaluate and redesign the company's defined benefit and defined contribution plans and its healthcare plans. Her treasury and tax organizations played critical roles in both the design and the implementation of the Wyeth benefit plans.
She led a reassessment of Wyeth's global insurance programs and oversaw the establishment of a captive insurance subsidiary in Ireland. She also designed and implemented Wyeth’s corporate-wide enterprise risk management system.
As a member of numerous executive oversight committees, Ms. Wold provided direction across a spectrum of Wyeth's business and finance operations, from financial reporting and disclosure to capital investment and supply chain management. She was a frequent speaker at professional and industry events including major equity investor conferences.
Prior to joining Wyeth, Ms. Wold was a partner at and chaired the tax practice group of Shearman & Sterling, one of the nation’s leading law firms. She focused her practice on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity, merchant banking, capital markets, and international tax planning for multinational corporate clients.
Earlier in her career, she served in the United States Department of the Treasury, advising on international legislative policy, regulations, and treaties as a member of the Office of International Tax Counsel.
She has served on the boards of various professional and non-profit organizations and is a former director and Chair of a publicly traded medical device company.
A practicing Episcopalian, Ms. Wold served on the vestry of Christ Church in Hudson, New York, and on the vestry and as Chancellor of St. Bartholomew's Church in New York City.
Ms. Wold graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. degree in English and Theater from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota where she was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
