Staying Well
Preventative Healthcare

Fall, 2020

Staying well in challenging times means not just taking care of your physical needs but also anticipating them. Through The Episcopal Church Medical Trust (the Medical Trust), CPG offers an array of preventive healthcare benefits to help you do just that.

Virtual Care

One of the best ways to stay healthy while remaining socially distant is to utilize the various virtual care options available through the Medical Trust.

“Virtual care is a great way to catch up on health issues that you may have been putting off,” Anthony Cota, CPG’s Assistant Vice President, Benefits Policy and Design, says.

If you are a member of the Medical Trust, there are two ways to see a healthcare professional online:

  • You can access the telehealth platforms offered by Anthem, Cigna, or Kaiser using your computer or mobile device. All covered services are available to you with no deductible, copay, or coinsurance through December 31, 2021. You can utilize these services and see the next available doctor (not your regular doctor) without having to leave your home.
  • If you prefer to see your own doctor, you can set up a virtual healthcare visit through your provider’s communication channel of choice (e.g., Zoom, Skype, or telephone). The Medical Trust is now allowing claims for virtual visits with your personal physician (both in-network and out-of-network).
  • Virtual healthcare visits are covered at standard levels of benefits and member cost shares through at least December 31, 2021. Please note, however, Kaiser members must use Kaiser’s network of telehealth professionals to receive covered telehealth services.

Sidestepping the Flu

Don’t forget to protect yourself from the hazards of flu season. JoAnn Goetz, RN, Clinical Director of CPG’s Benefits Policy team, says, “This year, it’s more important than ever for our members to get a flu shot.” Members of the Medical Trust can receive flu shots at any pharmacy that participates in the Express Scripts network at no cost to the member. Be sure to call in advance to schedule an appointment and to check on flu vaccine availability. And don’t forget your Express Scripts member ID card; you will be required to present it at the time of service.

To find a pharmacy participating in the Express Scripts network, log in at express-scripts.com and click Prescriptions, then Find a Pharmacy.
