To help protect children and adults from sexual misconduct in congregations, dioceses, and other church institutions, we have partnered with Praesidium, Inc. to create in-depth educational and training programs for preventing and responding to child sexual abuse in everyday life and in ministry.
The Episcopal Church is very serious about protecting children and adults from sexual abuse, harassment, and exploitation. Abuse prevention resources, available for purchase through Church Publishing Incorporated, are designed to help your parish or institution maintain a place that is safe for all. In addition, web-based training is now available in select dioceses that have chosen to participate.
Contact your diocese to find out if you can access this online training.
Model Policies 1
In 2015, the 78th General Convention began the process of transitioning to new model policies and training materials. In 2018, the 79th General Convention called for the establishment of a Task Force to create and implement new safe church training materials to reflect the approved 2017 Model Policies for the Protection of Children and Youth and the approved 2017 Model Policies for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults.
1 These model policies were developed by a task force established by the Presiding Bishop and President of the House of Deputies of The Episcopal Church, and are offered solely as a convenience. Neither The Church Insurance Agency Corporation nor any of its affiliates makes any representation or warranty with respect to any model policy, including with respect to the fitness of any model policy for any organization’s particular purpose or needs.
